"Mary Lum Kee as Kwan Yin" (2021). Ink & pen. Southeast Art Society Exhibition (sold). This quadtych features four archetypes from Chinese and Japanese philosophical and art history: the Buddhist boddhisattva Kwan Yin, an elegant lady-in-waiting, a sage as Hakuin Ekaku may have rendered one, and a restful Buddha by the ever-changing waters. These are also four portraits of members of my Cantonese family, respectively, my greatgrandmother, mother, great-uncle and sister.

I am a thinker. I don't believe there is such a thing as 'overthinking': what most people actually mean by this, is worrying. If a person is thinking rationally, for instance, to solve a problem, then after reaching a logical conclusion, they cease pursuing that solution; continuing to question the validity of one's solution after following the reasoning process rationally to its conclusion, is not thinking but worrying and means that a person's problem-solving is riddled with emotion. In that case, they haven't actually arrived at thinking, let alone 'over-thinking'. So, whoever invented this word 'over-thinking' was probably not thinking in the first place...
